The British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) is a registered charity established in 1984. Our aim is to advance and promote the study and general knowledge of the treatment of the hand. We aim to encourage high standards of care, education and research in the field of hand rehabilitation. The membership of the organisation comprises both occupational therapists and physiotherapists who have a particular interest in hand rehabilitation BAHT offers a number of awards and bursary schemes for members to encourage education and research in field of hand management and rehabilitation. We validate hand therapy courses throughout Great Britain and Ireland, and have developed an accreditation scheme encouraging members to become accredited hand therapists (AHT). BAHT has links with our members' professional bodies: the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the College of Occupational Therapy, in addition to the British Society of Surgery to the Hand (BSSH), the International and European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy, IFSHT and EFSHT, and other hand therapy organisations throughout the world working to promote evidence-based hand management and rehabilitation. |
