The Scottish Hand Therapists group reformed in March 2007 after quiet few years. The original meeting was a chance to get to know each other and talk about different ways we all work across Scotland. We also all brought examples of patient information leaflets to share and these are now kept centrally for anyone to access. After a brainstorming session, we decided on the format and frequency of meetings. Since then we have met twice a year, in March and September. The date and place of the next meeting is always set at the end of the meeting with a confirmation email sent to everyone on the data base. The meetings usually have some case presentations from members (once we had the 2 minute/5 slide format which was great fun), feedback sessions from courses/conferences, updates on audits, research, new ways of working, discussions on topical subjects and the occasional outside speaker. At the time we decided not to have too many outside speakers as everyone felt what we do not often get the chance to do is discuss and learn from each other. This has proved very successful. The case studies have also been a great way to get everyone, including more junior members, involved in speaking and teaching in an informal atmosphere. |
