 The British Association of Hand Therapy (BAHT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance and promote the study and general knowledge of the treatment of the hand. We aim to encourage high standards of care, education and research in the field of hand rehabilitation. The membership of the organisation is from both occupational and physiotherapists who have a particular interest in hand rehabilitation. BAHT offer a number of awards and bursary schemes for members to encourage travel and research in field of hand management and rehabilitation. We validate hand therapy courses through out Great Britain and have developed an accreditation scheme encouraging members to become accredited hand therapists. BAHT has strong links with the British Society of Surgery to the Hand (BSSH), the International and European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy IFSHT and EFSFT and other hand therapy organisations throughout the world working to promote evidence-based hand management and rehabilitation. We publish our own journal - The British Journal of Hand Therapy, which is now the official journal of the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy. BAHT has strong working links with professional bodies like the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and The College of Occupational Therapy (COT). We have also recently been working on the Departments of Health's, Action on Plastics and have published the Effectiveness bulletin on tendon injuries in the hand. |
