Regional Networks - Established Regional Groups

There are currently 10 regional groups in the UK .Each of the groups below are affiliated to BAHT but run independently and are organised voluntarily by local hand therapists.The groups all have different arrangements for meetings in terms of frequency and format but aim to improve networking and information sharing amongst regional hand thearpists .

North West Hand Therapy Group -

The Autumn meeting will be held at Blackburn Royal Infirmary on the topic of CRPS. Speaker: Miriam Trickett, Specialist OT. Weds October 13th at 7pm. This will be the first of a 2 part presentation.

The Anglia Regional Hand Therapists (ARHT) Group has it's next joint study day with the regional hand surgeons on 1st November 2010. Please contact Jim Dinley, OT at Ipswich for details. The Team Leaders from units in the region continue to meet 3-4 times a year to work on projects which include patient information, audits, guidelines, service developments etc. All newcomers welcomed!

The next Scottish Hand Group meeting is on September 28th 2010, 2pm at the Canniesburn Unit, Royal Infirmary, Glasgow. Everyone is welcome. For further details please contact: romabhopal@gmail.com

Wessex Hand Club – Meeting March 2010

The Wessex Rehabilitation Centre hosted a neoprene splinting study day on 22nd March. The course was very successful and well received by all the participants, who all laughed and learnt a lot! Our special thanks go to Alexa Crook and Catherine Whitmarsh who were the tutors on the day. We would also wish to thank Promedics who gave us considerable support in the loan of equipment.
Our next meeting on 23rd July will focus on managing pain and is free.

As the therapy representative for the Wessex Hand Club, I am aware that we are moving into difficult financial times where there will be problems in accessing both funding and study leave for training. I will try to support the Wessex Hand Therapists in facilitating day courses where we can share our skills and provide training opportunities to develop each other. I would be pleased to hear from any of the Wessex Hand Club members about training opportunities they would like or skills that they could share.
