Call for Abstracts

 

Call for Abstracts for 2024 BAHT Conference is now OPEN!

 

The BAHT 2024 annual conference will be held on 4th and 5th October in Sheffield. Visit the BAHT website for more details.

Abstracts are now welcome on any hand and upper-limb related theme. The deadline for submission is 23.59 pm British Summer Time, Monday 01 July 2024. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be accepted.

We welcome all forms of original work using the following methodologies: Quantitative, Qualitative, Mixed methods, Systematic reviews, Qualitative synthesis, Clinical audit, Service evaluation, Quality improvement initiatives. Study or review protocols will not be accepted.

Abstracts must be plain text (no tables, references or colours) and 300 words maximum, title excluded. Please structure your abstract as follows:

  • Title
  • Objectives: 1-2 sentences that clearly indicate the main study question(s) and its clinical importance
  • Methods: Sufficient information to describe experimental design and analysis
  • Results: Objective data in answer to the study question(s). Data collection may be in process but must be completed by the presentation.
  • Conclusions: Conclusions that are directly supported by the study results and their implications for clinical practice.

Please email your abstracts as a Word file to baht.cec@gmail.com by the deadline indicating who will be the presenting author and your preference for the type of presentation (Platform or Poster). Please send two copies, one including the author(s) names and affiliations and an anonymous copy.

Abstracts will undergo a blinded peer review process by the BAHT Clinical Evidence Committee. Selection of the successful abstracts will be based on the scores in the review process. All decisions of the committee including the format (Platform or Poster) and scheduling of the presentations are final.

The abstract submitter will be informed of the outcome of their abstract by Monday 05th August.

If the abstract is successful, the presenting author must register to attend the conference. They will be eligible for tickets priced at the early-bird rates. There will be no other discount. The ticket must be purchased either before the end of the early-bird discount or after being informed of the outcome of your application (when we will provide successful applicants with a non-transferable discount code for registration).

Please format the author(s) and affiliations as follows:

  • Authors – First name and surname, no titles, or qualifications. Please use superscript numbers to indicate different institutional affiliations e.g. Joanna Bloggs1
  • Affiliations – Name of department, name of hospital/academic institution, city, country e.g. 1 Hand Therapy, St Elsewhere Healthcare NHS Trust, Nowhere Town, UK
